Call of Duty season starts in a week. Here's the quick version of what you're getting with **Modern Warfare 4**.

## Release date and platforms

- **Launch:** October 23, 2026
- **Platforms:** PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC
- **Switch 2:** coming later this year
- **Last-gen:** no PS4 or Xbox One version
- **Game Pass:** not included on day one

## Campaign

The story centers on an invasion by North Korea. You play as Private Park, and Captain Price is back alongside you.

## Multiplayer and DMZ

Multiplayer launches with 12 maps, and DMZ, the extraction mode, returns.

## The 2nd Shift take

Dropping last-gen is the right call if it means bigger maps and fewer compromises. The Game Pass decision will sting for a lot of players who got used to trying CoD for "free." With GTA VI arriving four weeks later, MW4 has a short window to hook people before everyone disappears into Vice City.
