Best MW4 Settings for PS5, Xbox and PC
The best Modern Warfare 4 controller, graphics, FOV and audio settings for PS5, Xbox and PC, updated for the launch build.
Last updated: October 30, 2026. Reflects the Modern Warfare 4 launch build (October 23), ahead of Season 1 and the new Warzone on November 6.
The three Modern Warfare 4 settings that matter most: set Field of View to 105 with ADS Field of View on Affected, turn World and Weapon Motion Blur and Depth of Field off (Film Grain to 0), and set Audio Mix to Headphones with Gameplay Music Volume at 0 so footsteps stand out. On controller, start at 1.2 sensitivity with the Dynamic aim response curve and the lowest deadzones your sticks allow without drift.
The values below come from Dexerto's MW4 settings guides, checked against Activision's official PC feature rundown. Treat them as a starting point: sensitivity and FOV are personal, and Season 1 patches can move or rename options.
Quick setup
- FOV: 105, ADS Field of View: Affected, Vehicle Field of View: Default
- Blur and grain: World Motion Blur, Weapon Motion Blur, World Depth of Field, Weapon Depth of Field all Off; Film Grain 0
- Controller: Horizontal/Vertical Stick Sensitivity 1.2, Aim Response Curve Type: Dynamic, ADS Sensitivity Transition Timing: Instant
- Deadzones: Left Stick Min 5, Right Stick Min 4 (lower if your controller has no drift)
- Audio: Audio Mix: Headphones, Gameplay Music Volume 0, Effects Volume 100
- PC: Display Mode: Fullscreen Exclusive, NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency: On + Boost, V-Sync (Gameplay) Off, Ray Tracing Off
Best MW4 controller settings
These are Dexerto's recommended controller values. They work on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC with a pad.
- Button Layout: Tactical
- Horizontal / Vertical Stick Sensitivity: 1.2 / 1.2
- Swap L1/R1 with L2/R2: On (personal preference; leave Off if you're used to triggers)
- Controller Vibration: Off, Trigger Effect: Off
- Deadzone Inputs: Left Stick Min 5, Left Stick Max 99, Right Stick Min 4, Right Stick Max 99, Left Trigger 0, Right Trigger 0
- Aim Down Sight Behavior: Hold
- Target Aim Assist: On
- ADS Sensitivity Transition Timing: Instant
- Aim Response Curve Type: Dynamic
- Sprint Assist: On, Tactical Sprint Activation: Single Tap Sprint
- Slide/Dive Behavior: Tap to Slide, Slide Maintains Sprint: On
- Mantle Assist: Off, Grounded Mantle: On
- Armor Plate Behavior: Apply All (useful in DMZ and Warzone)
- Interact/Reload Behavior: Tap to Reload
Deadzone tip: Dexerto suggests setting both stick Min values to 0, then raising them a point at a time until your crosshair stops drifting on its own. Lower is more responsive, so stop at the first value that's stable.
Best PS5 and Xbox graphics settings
Console players get far fewer options than PC, and Dexerto lists the same values for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S:
- World Motion Blur: Off
- Weapon Motion Blur: Off
- Film Grain: 0
- World Depth of Field: Off
- Weapon Depth of Field: Off
- FidelityFX CAS: On, FidelityFX CAS Strength: 80 (sharpens the image so distant enemies are clearer)
- On-Demand Texture Streaming: Optimized
- 1st Person Camera Movement: Minimal, 3rd Person Camera Movement: Minimal
- Inverted Flashbang: On
- Eco Mode Preset: Efficiency

Best MW4 PC settings for FPS
Dexerto's PC guide is built for maximum frames and visibility, not looks. The key picks:
- Display Mode: Fullscreen Exclusive
- Screen Refresh Rate: your monitor's maximum
- Display Resolution: native
- NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency: On + Boost
- V-Sync (Gameplay): Off
- Custom Frame Rate Limit: a few frames under your monitor's refresh rate
- Background Shader Preloading: On
- Frame Generation: Off, Ray Tracing: Off
- VRAM Scale Target: 75 (adjust for your card's memory)
- Texture Resolution: Normal, Shadow Quality: Very Low, Particle Resolution: Very Low
- Screen Space Shadows, Screen Space Reflections, Occlusion and Screen Space Lighting: Off
- Upscaling/Sharpening: NVIDIA DLSS (or FSR/XeSS on AMD and Intel), Sharpness: 80
- Variable Rate Shading: On
Activision says MW4 on PC supports NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR Redstone and Intel XeSS 3, HDR10+, ultrawide displays and more than 800 settings in total. Frame generation adds smoothness but also input latency, which is why competitive guides leave it off. If you have a strong GPU and play mostly DMZ, raising texture and shadow quality is a fair trade.

Best FOV settings
Dexerto recommends 105 FOV on both console and PC. Higher FOV shows more of your surroundings, but distant enemies get smaller. If you struggle at range, drop toward 100; if you want more peripheral vision, push toward 110.
- ADS Field of View: Affected keeps your aimed view scaled to your FOV. Independent zooms in more when you aim, which helps spot far targets but narrows your view. Neither changes recoil or accuracy.
- Enhanced Field of View (PC only) is new in MW4. Activision describes it as widening the view near the screen edges without changing the center. Dexerto leaves it Off by default but says it's worth trying at 105.
Best MW4 audio settings
Sound wins fights in DMZ, so this is the section to get right. Dexerto's recommended values:
- Audio Mix: Headphones
- Gameplay Music Volume: 0, Cinematic Music Volume: 0
- Dialogue Volume: 30
- Effects Volume: 100
- Speaker Output: Stereo
- Mono Audio: Off
- Reduce Tinnitus Sound: On
- Microphone Mode: Push to Talk
Two system-level tweaks help as well: on PC, enable Loudness Equalization in Windows Sound settings, and on PS5, turn on Audio Focus under Sound > Volume > Accessibility with Focus Type set to Boost High Pitch. A decent headset makes all of this work better. See our best headsets for Modern Warfare 4.
What could change in Season 1
Season 1 and the new MW4 version of Warzone arrive on November 6 (here's what's confirmed). Activision hasn't published Season 1 patch notes yet, so we don't know of any settings changes. Big seasonal updates sometimes add options, reset settings or rename menus, so if something here doesn't match your game after the update, the menu may have changed. We'll refresh this guide once the patch notes are out.
FAQ
What is the best FOV for Modern Warfare 4?
105 is the most common recommendation for both console and PC, with ADS Field of View set to Affected. Go lower (around 100) if distant enemies look too small, or higher (up to 110) for more peripheral vision.
What is the best controller sensitivity in MW4?
Dexerto recommends 1.2 horizontal and 1.2 vertical stick sensitivity with the Dynamic aim response curve. That's a starting point: raise it if you can't turn fast enough, lower it if your aim overshoots.
Should I turn off motion blur in MW4?
Yes. Turning off World Motion Blur and Weapon Motion Blur, along with both Depth of Field settings and Film Grain, gives a clearer image when you move and aim, on both console and PC.
What audio mix is best for hearing footsteps in MW4?
Set Audio Mix to Headphones, turn Gameplay Music Volume to 0 and keep Effects Volume at 100. On PS5, Audio Focus with Boost High Pitch can make footsteps easier to pick out.
