Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Release Date, Shipment & Roadmap
MW4 Season 1 starts Friday, Nov 6 for MW4 and Warzone. Shipment lands Oct 27, then Possession and Infected. Here's every date, plus Warzone's last-gen exit.
Modern Warfare 4 is out, and the first wave of post-launch content starts soon. Season 1 starts Friday, November 6 for both Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone, according to Activision's launch roadmap. Before that you'll get Shipment and two Halloween party modes. Here's every date we have, plus what changes for Warzone.
Modern Warfare 4 roadmap: every date
- Friday, October 23: full launch. 12 core 6v6 maps plus the Kill Block modular map, 3 Ground War maps and 4 Gunfight maps.
- Tuesday, October 27: Shipment arrives as a 6v6 map (confirmed on the official Call of Duty blog).
- Thursday, October 29: Possession party mode.
- Friday, October 30: Infected, just in time for Halloween.
- Friday, November 6: Season 1 for Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone.
Activision hasn't announced a start time for Season 1 yet. We'll add it here once it's posted. Note that US clocks fall back on November 1, so the usual summer start times shift by an hour.
What Season 1 changes for Warzone
- The new Warzone comes with Season 1. Until November 6, choosing Warzone from the MW4 launcher installs the current live version, per Infinity Ward's launch patch notes.
- Last call for PS4 and Xbox One. Activision confirmed back in May that Warzone support on last-gen consoles ends with MW4's first season. The game was delisted from those stores on June 4. After that you'll need a PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 or PC.
- Expect the usual Season 1 package: a new Battle Pass and MW4 weapons and progression in Warzone. Activision hasn't posted the full Season 1 content blog yet.
DMZ players already got a change
A minor update on October 22 lets DMZ teams recapture UAV towers from enemy squads. Before that, whoever took a tower kept it all match and could spot anyone nearby. GamesRadar+ notes the same update also let four-player parties queue into free-for-all matches, which isn't great news for solo players. Stuck on bugs instead? Our DMZ fixes page tracks every patch.
The 2nd Shift take
Shipment four days after launch is Activision knowing exactly what we want: chaos, fast camo grinds, and no thinking. The real date is November 6, though. That's when Warzone finally catches up and last-gen players lose the game for good. If you're still on a PS4 or Xbox One, these next two weeks are your last drops. The Halloween modes are nice, but Season 1 decides whether MW4 lasts.
