Nintendo revealed the remake at the Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct. It's largely a 1:1 recreation of the 1998 original with rebuilt visuals and quality-of-life changes:

• Overhauled visuals, voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue and an orchestral soundtrack
• A dedicated jump button, plus updated swimming, sprinting and rolling
• Seamless transitions into many shops and interiors (some loading screens are kept on purpose)
• Switch 2 microphone support for playing ocarina songs
• Nintendo Switch App features: Zelda Notes, Today's Record, Gossip Quest and a virtual ocarina
