Bad news if you bought a Switch 2 for Miyazaki's next game: The Duskbloods is delayed to 2027. FromSoftware confirmed it on October 29, 2026, pushing the Switch 2 exclusive out of its original 2026 window. There's still no exact release date, no quarter and no price.

The Duskbloods release date: what we know now

  • New release window: 2027 (no specific date or quarter yet)
  • Old window: 2026
  • Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive
  • Publisher: co-published by Nintendo and FromSoftware
  • Director: Hidetaka Miyazaki (Bloodborne, Elden Ring)
  • Type: online multiplayer PvPvE action game for up to 8 players
  • Price: not announced

FromSoftware said development is in its "final adjustment stage" and apologized to fans who've been waiting. Per Inven Global, the official site's spec section still listed 2026 after the announcement, so don't let that confuse you. The new window is 2027.

Why it was delayed

In a follow-up statement, FromSoftware tied the delay to the closed network test that ran August 21-24. It said players showed "active interest in the core concepts," including combat, strategy and player expression, and that the extra time goes to final tweaks on game rules and balancing.

That test had a rough start. GamesRadar+ reports the first session was canceled after servers were overwhelmed and players got stuck on the title screen, and some players had performance problems and mixed feelings about the PvP once it did run. Inven's hands-on liked the snappy, stamina-free combat but flagged character balance and build variety as weak spots. Miyazaki had already said the team would refine balance based on test results.

The 2nd Shift take

This is the right call, and it's not a surprise. A PvP game lives or dies on balance and netcode, and the network test showed both needed work. FromSoftware delaying for polish has a good track record. The part that stings is the vague "2027." That could mean early next year or a very long wait, and Switch 2 owners were counting on this as the system's big prestige exclusive. Until Nintendo gives a date, plan your 2026 around other games.
