GTA 6: Release Date, Price, Editions, PC & Everything We Know

Last updated: October 16, 2026. We'll keep this page current through launch.

Grand Theft Auto VI is the biggest game launch in years, and it's finally close. Here's everything that's actually confirmed: release date, price, editions, platforms, the story, and the stuff that's still rumor. No filler, just the facts and our take.

GTA 6 release date

Grand Theft Auto VI launches Thursday, November 19, 2026.

Getting here took a while. The game was first revealed in December 2023 with a fall 2025 window, then delayed to May 26, 2026, then delayed again to November 19, 2026. Rockstar released the launch trailer on October 15, 2026, which is about as close to "it's shipping" as Rockstar gets.

• Digital preload: starts November 12, 2026
• Launch: November 19, 2026

Platforms: is GTA 6 on PC?

At launch, GTA 6 is on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. There's no PS4 or Xbox One version.

Rockstar hasn't announced a PC version or date. GamesBeat has reported, citing unnamed sources, that a PC release is targeted for early 2027. Treat that as a rumor until Rockstar confirms it. Historically, Rockstar has brought its big games to PC after the console launch, not alongside it.

GTA 6 price and editions

Rockstar announced pricing in June 2026, and pre-orders opened June 25.

• Standard Edition: $79.99
• Ultimate Edition: $99.99. Adds "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action" to the story, including extra cars, businesses, and customization options that only open with this edition.

Heads up if you want a physical copy: the boxed version contains a download code, not a disc. It's available from November 12 so you can preload.

Pre-order bonus: the Vintage Vice City Pack

Every edition gets the Vintage Vice City Pack when you pre-order:

• A '55 Vapid Stanier sedan
• A Shore Court garage at Ocean Beach, with a weapon locker and a spot to fence stolen goods
• Outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia
• A tropical palm-tree weapon pattern

Digital pre-orders on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store also include one free month of GTA+. It auto-renews at the regular price, so set a reminder to cancel if you don't want it.

Story and characters: Jason and Lucia

GTA 6 has two protagonists, and for the first time in the modern era of the series, one of them is a woman.

• Lucia Caminos was taught to fight by her father and ended up in Leonida Penitentiary after fighting for her family. She comes out with a plan to build the good life her mom always dreamed of.
• Jason Duval spent time in the army, then drifted into work for local drug runners while chasing an easy life.

Rockstar's setup: an easy score goes wrong, and the two end up in the middle of a conspiracy that stretches across the state. Think a modern Bonnie and Clyde with a lot more neon.

Where is GTA 6 set?

The game is set in the fictional state of Leonida, Rockstar's take on Florida, with Vice City (its Miami) as the centerpiece. It's the series' first trip back to Vice City since Vice City Stories in 2006. Expect beaches, swamps, keys, small towns, and a lot of very Florida energy.

Music: Justice is scoring it

The launch trailer confirmed French electronic duo Justice is composing GTA 6's dynamic score. Their trailer theme, "Flower in a Hurricane," features Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Rockstar is also releasing Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album with 34 tracks. Read our launch trailer breakdown.

What about GTA Online?

Rockstar has described the November 19 launch as a single-player experience and hasn't detailed GTA 6's online mode or when it arrives. If online play matters to you, don't count on it day one.

The 2nd Shift take

$80 stings, and a disc-less box is going to annoy collectors. But Rockstar earned a lot of trust with GTA 5 and Red Dead 2, and everything shown so far looks like a generational leap. Our advice: pre-order digital only if you want the bonus, preload on the 12th, and clear your schedule for the 19th.
