Pearl Abyss bumped it two weeks, and now it's almost here. Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown, the first paid expansion for Crimson Desert, launches Thursday, October 29, 2026 for $24.99 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Here's when it unlocks, what you get, and what you need to play it.

Charting the Unknown release time and price

  • Release date: Thursday, October 29, 2026 (delayed from October 15)
  • Expected unlock: 22:00 UTC, which is 3pm PT / 6pm ET / 10pm UK / 11pm CET, and 7am KST/JST on Friday, October 30. That matches the 10pm UTC slot Pearl Abyss originally announced; we'll update if it changes.
  • Price: $24.99 / £19.99 / €24.99 (Steam lists it at $24.99)
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store)
  • Not on: PS4, Xbox One, Mac or Switch 2 at launch
  • Requires: the base game. It's sold separately and is digital only.
  • Pre-order bonus: the Charter's Diving Set (Kliff and Oongka) and Charter's Light Diving Set (Damiane)

Why the delay? Pearl Abyss said it needed extra time to deliver a "more polished and stable gameplay experience." Reports also say the DLC will no longer launch in the UAE, with pre-orders there being refunded.

What's in the expansion

This isn't a cosmetic pack. The six-minute features trailer lays out a lot:

  • Ships and the open ocean: gather resources, build and customize your own vessel, and sail to new islands beyond Pywel's coast
  • Underwater exploration: diving, sunken ruins, treasure, and yes, a shark you can ride
  • Island strongholds: set up bases with your Greymane comrades and fight off enemy forces
  • New stories for Kliff, Oongka and Damiane, plus new threats on land and sea
  • Housing overhaul: design your home down to walls and windows, and decorate liberated castles
  • Business management: lease facilities and choose what goods to sell
  • Romance and marriage, a feature fans have asked for since launch
  • Boss Gauntlet: back-to-back fights against Pywel's toughest bosses

Busy Thursday

October 29 is stacked. Phantom Blade Zero lands the same day, so if you're juggling both, plan your downloads. Charting the Unknown comes out Thursday afternoon US time, which leaves a whole evening to sail around before the weekend.

The 2nd Shift take

Two weeks is the kind of delay we'll take every time. A last-minute slip with a "polish" reason beats a broken launch. And for $25, this reads more like a second game than a DLC: ships, diving, base-building, housing, marriage. The risk is that it turns Crimson Desert into a checklist of systems, so we'll see Thursday night whether the sea feels alive or just big. Our pick: wait for the first wave of player impressions Friday if you're on the fence. If you already put 100 hours into Pywel, you're buying it anyway.
